Advanced Lesson 2: Linking Items

Can't decide where to store a document? Want a way to access frequently-visited areas? It's easy with Link Items or Link This.

You can use links to create shortcuts to items throughout Workspace. This makes it easy to find and re-use information.  For example, you might need to add a document about the status of a grant's budget to Workspace.  Should you add it to the Grants folder or the Budget folder?  It doesn't matter!  You can add the document to one folder and link it to the other - the document will be accessible from both locations.

To link one item, navigate to that item's information page.  Click Link This.  Place the link on your clipboard by clicking the appropriate radio button.  Click OK.  Then, navigate to where you would like to place the link.  Click Paste Here, select the correct link, and click OK.

To link more than one item from a folder, use Link Items.  This command allows you to link multiple items from one folder at once.

You can also create links in your public or private folder to frequently-visited areas.  To link a folder, navigate to that folder and click Link This.  Place the link into your public or private folder by clicking the appropriate radio button.  Click OK.  The link has been pasted into the folder of your choice.  When you next need to access that folder, navigate to My Page and click the link in your public or private folder.
